wpid-img_20140918_074523.jpgLast week I was blessed with a visit from an angel named Danielle. With a voice fit for the heavens and an earth-loving soul kindred to my own, it was completely my pleasure to have her grace this island with a visit. I met this lady in Toronto five years ago and have watched her growing into the inspiring, musical, compassionate, entrepreneurial, beautiful soul she is.

Her two day visit here was nothing short of magical, and everything fell into place perfectly. First my neighbours just happened to be coming back on the same ferry and were able to get her here to my cozy cabin in the woods where we enjoyed the evening singing songs and catching up.

The next morning we headed to town and only moments out the door happened to catch the community bus to the community garden where we harvested fresh kale, swiss chard, tomatoes, zucchini, mint, rosemary and lemon balm. Onward we went to the village, where she picked up some souvenirs at the island shops and we picked up a few extra groceries for dinner.

From there we caught another ride up to the north end of the island, dropping off our bags before going for a walk to the lighthouse. Along the way we ran into a family of deer and Danielle had a magical encounter with Mother Nature. At the lighthouse we sang songs before heading back to make dinner for friends with our fresh veggies.

Now that I’ve been out here for over six months I’m realizing that I’ve gotten very comfortable living in paradise and it was refreshing to share this special place with someone who is accustomed to the hustle and bustle of city life. Her visit brought some perspective to my dreams and goals of having a place here where friends like Danielle can take a break from the stresses of the city and enjoy the breath of fresh air that nature offers.

If you live in Toronto and are looking to connect with really good people I definitely suggest you go visit this lovely lady yourself at her Bloor West tea shop, Dee’s Teas. I would almost guarantee magical experiences there as it seems to follow her wherever she goes.
